Starting out on Lake Michigan, Katniss was encouraged to race early on, and although reluctant at first, she went on to claim the mid-west regional championship one year later. Then after a 2 year hiatus through Covid, she became a silver and bronze medalist at the ICF SUP World Cup in 2022.
She attributes her success to starting out on the cold and windy open waters of the Great Lakes, and her passion for aerial straps and rope training.
We are proud to sponsor her journey as we know Katniss will continue to excel and enjoy being on the water for the rest of her life. She urges everyone to get out on the water and give paddling a try!

In 2023 we hosted an ACA Instructor and Participant course at our Black River facility presented by Joe Moore of Adaptive Expeditions. It was a fantastic course and we couldn't wait to share it with our local paddling community, so we sponsored Alice Bova of Dragon Boat Charleston and Barb Moyer of Dragon Boat at the Beach to attend and bring their knowledge back to their prospective clubs.
What a great weekend! We encourage you to check out Adaptive Expeditions at https://adaptiveexpeditions.org/ for a course near you.
Kim is a very avid paddler. She not only paddles OC and Va'a, but dragon boat and just about anything else that requires time on the water and a paddle in her hand.
We first met Kim in Bemidji, MN and since we think she exemplifies what SISU (mental toughness) means to paddle sports, we are happy to have supported her athletic journey!
We were very proud to have sponsored Kim as an ECORA Boundary Waters Storm paddler including her journey with the USA Outrigger Racing Canoe Association (ORCA) in August of 2022 for the IVF World Sprint Championships in Great Britain.
To round out her 2022 racing season, she completed the Catalina Channel Crossing US Outrigger Championships.
We were happy to support her through her many achievements including helping her to host clinics at our Boundary Waters Facility in Georgetown and Charleston here in South Carolina.
